Job Description
Director of Product Development – China Office
Our client, a rapidly growing Gen-Z Fashion Brand, is in search of a dynamic individual to step into the pivotal role of Product Development Director for their China office. This position demands not only a profound understanding and passion for Fast Fashion but also robust managerial skills to supervise the design and development processes of the China Sample development team.
Responsibilities:
- Leadership: Lead the Product Development department carefully curating key trendy items for monthly deliveries based on their input. Understand our target audience and their preferences in styles, fitting, and colors.
- Support Company Growth: Plan, Recruit and Train existing and new personnel to support the Company’s growth and create a scalable model for Company’s future plans.
- Collaboration with Trend, Design teams based in LA office: Take a holistic approach and collaborate closely to develop and execute monthly deliveries, ensuring designs are on-trend, commercially viable, and align with the brand's aesthetic.
- Project Management: Oversee Sample Development teams, foster cross-functional collaboration, and report to the General Manager.
- Team Management: Supervise all development processes, including sampling and production times, collection and drop planning, etc. Manage direct reports and lead future extensions of the China team.
- Establish Standardized Work Processes: Form, Establish and Maintain work processes, training processes, and distinguished role definitions to allow the smooth workflow of the department in its current and future scope of work.
Additional Qualifications:
- Operational and Analytical Mindset: Bring an operational and analytical approach to product development, tracking progress, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
- Experience with Development Calendars: Proficient in leading managing development calendars and working with product allocations.
- Knowledge in Fabrication, Trims, and Raw Materials: Possess expertise in materials used in fashion, including fabrication, trims, and raw materials.
- Overseas Collaboration: Exhibit the ability to follow up and check in with Desing, TD and production teams overseas.
- Product Costing: Demonstrated experience in product costing to ensure financial viability.
- Organizational Skills: Highly organized and adept at working in ultra-fast-paced environments.
Technical Skills:
- Proficient in Microsoft programs and Google Office.
Industry Experience:
- Previous experience in Fast Fashion and startup brands.
Requirements:
- Solid background in Product Development and constructing collections for women’s Fast Fashion brands.
- Proven ability to lead project meetings and teams, maintaining high-quality work, recruit and train employees.
- 8+ years of experience leading and managing a development department for fast fashion brands.
- Strong management and organizational skills, along with excellent communication skills.
