Our client is looking for an experienced designer who is team and detail-oriented, passionate about their craft and highly organized. Reporting to the Design Director the Associate Designer will be responsible for supporting the Design team in all their needs with a specific focus on knits and soft wovens. This individual will work closely with cross-functional teams including Tech and Production to ensure we are creating a quality product. Working alongside the Design Director, this position plays an intricate role in the design team, supporting the department and leading design / development for numerous categories. This role is vital in helping keep all categories on track with day-to day responsibilities. We are looking for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment with a strong love for design and product.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Manage all things knit related tasks
- Design and developing the knit category, ie bodies, knit downs and manage submits
- Co-manage mainline development within team (Swim, Knits, Resortwear, Accessories)
- Working closely with tech on fits and development
- Bringing new concepts and inspiration to the table for all categories in initial design meeting with a main focus on Knits
- Communicating all things knits and various categories if needed with individual teams
- Build out instructional PDFs for developers to send to factories for various categories when needed.
- Sketch new development, make design cards and communicate with tech
- Review all lab dips and prints for seasonal drops (Swim, Knits, Resortwear)
- Start initial BOM process in PLM

EXPERIENCE / SKILLS:
- 3-6 years of Knit and soft woven experience with a strong focus in the contemporary market.
- Knowledge of yarn properties, fabric behavior, and textile technology.
- Strong sketching, technical drawing, and creative design abilities.
- Proficient in Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop with experience in excel and PLM / Backbone is a plus.
- Passion and eye for design with the ability to clearly articulate a point of view.
- Strong knowledge of garment construction and building tech packs
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and under pressure, must be able to multitask, prioritize work.
- Must have a Laptop or home computer.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Team player with an eagerness to learn.
