Job Description
Creative Director – Luxury Bedding and Home Textiles
Our Client is hiring an ambitious, hungry Creative Director to lead end‑to‑end product and brand creative for everyday‑luxury bedding and home accents. This onsite role in Dallas reports to the CEO and manages two direct reports plus select freelancers. You’ll set seasonal direction and line architecture, own packaging and photography, and decide make‑vs‑buy for artwork and patterns. You’ll guide concepts through sampling, costing, and production with our sourcing team, and partner with Product, Sales, Marketing, and Operations for on‑time, margin‑aware launches. This is a small business so requires wearing many hats (website merchandising, showroom setup and merchandising, and more) to drive overall results. The line spans a wide range of styles; you must be highly versatile—able to switch aesthetics quickly and lead direction The role includes ~4–6 weeks of annual travel for markets and occasional early/late calls to align across time zones.
Job Responsibilities
- Set seasonal creative direction and line architecture from trend, consumer, and competitive insights.
- Map assortment gaps by brand/channel/price tier; prioritize high‑impact opportunities and build a sequenced roadmap.
- Own packaging and photography direction for go‑to‑market; brief shoots, art‑direct, approve selects/retouching, and ensure packaging communicates value and brand.
- Decide when to design in‑house vs. license/acquire artwork; manage rights and integrate sourced assets into brand‑right collections.
- Lead hands‑on design of prints, materials, color, and constructions; edit into cohesive, commerce‑ready collections.
- Partner with sourcing and vendors on materials, sampling, manufacturability, timelines, and costing; protect margin and schedule.
- Drive briefs, content, and launch calendars with Product, Marketing, Sales, and Operations.
- Manage and coach a small in‑house team and freelancers; set goals, review work, and develop talent.
- Oversee quality from concept through sample, QA, and final production; uphold brand standards.
- Represent the line at High Point, Las Vegas, and Dallas markets; meet customers, capture feedback, and conduct competitive market research; travel ~4–6 weeks/year.
- Lean in across the business as needed—website merchandising, showroom setup and merchandising, and other hands‑on tasks—to drive overall results.
- Build and sustain partner relationships that expand our aesthetic and commercial reach.
Job Requirements
- Onsite in Dallas; full‑time; ability to travel 4–6 weeks/year and join occasional early/late calls across time zones.
- Bachelor’s degree in Design, Textiles, Art, Marketing, or related field—or equivalent experience.
- 12+ years in design/creative roles within home goods, textiles, fashion, or adjacent categories; 3+ years leading a team.
- Portfolio showcasing original surface design and skilled curation/editing of external prints into cohesive collections.
- Proven ability to turn trends and insights into line strategies that drive business (sell‑through, margin mix, growth, brand KPIs).
- Demonstrated ownership of packaging and photography direction (briefing, art direction, asset selection, and vendor management).
- High versatility across styles; able to switch aesthetics quickly and lead direction even without deep subject‑matter expertise.
- Strong project management, objective evaluation, and low‑ego, feedback‑forward leadership.
- Advanced Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop; working knowledge of PLM/product‑development workflows.
- Fluency in make‑vs‑buy decisions, vendor management, costing, and IP/licensing fundamentals for prints and patterns.
- Willingness to lean in across the business (e.g., website merchandising; showroom setup and merchandising) in a small‑company environment.
