POSITION OVERVIEW
The Director of Ecommerce will serve as a key member of the executive leadership team and play a critical role in driving the organization’s continued growth. Reporting directly to the COO, this leader will be responsible for advancing the company’s digital commerce strategy, optimizing business performance, and leading cross-functional initiatives that drive revenue, customer engagement, and profitability.

The Director of Ecommerce will partner closely with leadership across marketing, merchandising, operations, and finance to develop and execute growth strategies while overseeing the day-to-day performance of the Ecommerce business.

Strategic Leadership
  • Help establish and execute the strategic direction of the business in partnership with the leadership team.
  • Develop, refine, and evolve the company’s Ecommerce strategy to maximize profitability and support sustainable growth.
  • Evaluate and identify opportunities for expansion into additional sales channels beyond the current direct-to-consumer business.
  • Lead and manage end-to-end website strategy and operational execution.
  • Own and manage the DTC P&L to achieve annual financial objectives.
  • Assess opportunities for growth through wholesale, marketplace, retail, and other emerging channels.
  • Develop annual budgets, forecasts, and KPI frameworks to support business goals.
  • Create and oversee strategic marketing plans and sales calendars across all digital channels, including Email, SMS, Search, Social, and Affiliate Marketing.
  • Lead retention, loyalty, and customer engagement initiatives that increase customer lifetime value and repeat purchase behavior.

Performance Management & Team Leadership
  • Foster a high-performance culture through regular KPI reporting, accountability, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Connect operating performance metrics with marketing and financial outcomes to improve business results.
  • Implement reporting systems that provide visibility into company performance and progress toward goals.
  • Directly manage team members and facilitate collaboration across Marketing, Creative, Operations, Technology, and Finance.
  • Partner with leadership to develop scalable processes, operational discipline, and performance-focused decision making.

Digital Marketing & Website Management
  • Partner with leadership to analyze and optimize key business metrics, including traffic, conversion rate, average order value (AOV), customer acquisition cost (CAC), customer lifetime value (LTV), retention, and profitability.
  • Lead relationships with external agencies and vendors responsible for marketing execution and website development.
  • Develop and maintain a testing and optimization framework that drives ongoing learning and performance improvement.
  • Optimize website user experience and conversion through data-driven decision making.
  • Collaborate with agency partners to launch new campaigns, improve existing channel performance, and test emerging growth opportunities.
  • Champion a test-and-learn mindset across creative, messaging, audience targeting, and channel investment decisions.

Ecommerce Performance & Operations
  • Regularly evaluate the effectiveness of existing eCommerce operations, technology platforms, and competitive positioning.
  • Oversee day-to-day eCommerce operations, site performance, merchandising execution, and business reporting.
  • Use data and analytics to guide decisions and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency.
  • Partner with Marketing and Creative teams on campaign planning, content strategy, merchandising, promotions, copy, and photography.
  • Support broader brand-building initiatives through cross-functional collaboration and customer insights.

Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years of experience leading direct-to-consumer marketing and eCommerce businesses, including hands-on management of digital channels and experience scaling high-growth consumer brands. This individual must be a highly analytical operator with strong commercial instincts and a passion for driving measurable results.

Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience required; degree in Business, Marketing, Communications, Advertising, or related field preferred.
  • Proven ability to simplify complex business challenges and communicate strategic recommendations to executive leadership.
  • Demonstrated success managing external agencies, digital marketing partners, and technology vendors.
  • Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate data into actionable business strategies.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a willingness to operate both strategically and tactically.
  • Experience developing business plans, growth strategies, and eCommerce roadmaps.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong understanding of web technologies, digital customer experiences, and website performance metrics.
  • Deep working knowledge of Shopify Plus.
