San Diego, CA | Full Time
Join the team of a world-renowned plastic surgeon in San Diego, offering exceptional pre and post-operative care to patients recovering from cosmetic procedures. This role provides personalized aftercare, ensuring a smooth recovery process for those who have undergone plastic surgery.
Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Perioperative Nurse to join our practice. As the Perioperative Nurse, you will play a crucial role in the pre-operative care and aftercare of patients who have undergone procedures, providing specialized care. Responsibilities will include tasks such as monitoring healing, and educating patients on pre and post-op care protocols.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide pre and post-operative nursing care following plastic surgery procedures
- Provide emotional support to patients
- Remove sutures, assess wound healing, and administer medications as needed
- Monitor patients for signs of infection or complications, reporting to the surgeon as required
- Educate patients on post-surgical care, including hygiene, medication administration, and activity restrictions
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and optimize recovery outcomes
- Maintain accurate patient records and communicate progress with the surgical team
- Provide emotional support to patients, ensuring a positive and comfortable recovery experience
Qualifications:
- Current and valid RN license in the state of California
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Minimum of one year of previous perioperative experience, or completion of on-the-job training in a perioperative setting
- Certified Nurse OR (CNOR) Certification (AORN) preferred
- Is a plus if you have a current BLS (AHA) certification upon hire and maintain current
- Is a plus if you have a current ACLS (AHA) certification (within 30 days of hire) and maintain current
- Is a plus if you have a current PALS (AHA) certification (within 30 days of hire) and maintain current
Skills & Attributes:
- Strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently
- Excellent communication and patient education skills
- Compassionate and patient-focused approach to care
- Ability to handle post-operative complications and emergencies with confidence and composure
Salary: $100,000 to $110,000, dependent on experience
Hours: Monday-Friday 9am-5pm PST
*(may need to carry emergency phone for patients when needed)
