Technical Designer / Senior Technical Designer, Apparel
About the Role
We are seeking multiple Technical Designers and Senior Technical Designers across several apparel categories, including:
- Men’s Sweaters
- Women’s Bottoms
- Men’s Active & Knits
In these roles, you will support and lead technical design and fit execution for your respective category. You will play a critical role in delivering exceptional fit, consistency, and product quality that directly impacts customer satisfaction, reduces returns, and drives brand loyalty.
We are open to candidates across multiple experience levels, from strong mid-level Technical Designers to highly experienced Senior Technical Designers with deep category expertise.
The ideal candidate combines technical expertise with strong cross-functional collaboration skills and thrives in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
Responsibilities
- Own and support the technical design and fit process from initial prototype through bulk production approval.
- Develop and maintain category-specific fit blocks that support scalable and consistent garment development.
- Create, update, and manage detailed technical specifications, construction details, and grading standards.
- Conduct fit sessions, evaluate samples, and communicate clear fit corrections and construction comments to vendors and factories.
- Partner cross-functionally with merchandising, sourcing, product development, production, and overseas teams to ensure consistency in fit, quality, and execution.
- Review patterns and recommend revisions to improve garment fit, comfort, and overall performance.
- Collaborate with global technical design teams to establish and maintain standardized fit processes across regions.
- Analyze customer feedback, sales performance, and return data to continuously improve fit and product quality.
- Troubleshoot construction and pattern challenges while providing practical, scalable solutions.
- Ensure all garments align with company standards for fit, quality, construction, and aesthetic expectations.
- Utilize technical design tools and systems including Excel, Google Sheets, PLM systems, and patternmaking software as needed.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred.
- Technical design experience within apparel, with expertise in one or more relevant categories.
- Strong understanding of garment construction, patternmaking, grading, and fit evaluation.
- Experience managing the fit process from prototype through production.
- Proficiency in Excel, Google Sheets, and technical design software.
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in technical specifications and fit execution.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with both internal teams and external partners.
- Ability to prioritize multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Solution-oriented mindset with strong problem-solving capabilities.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed.
- Standing and walking throughout the workday.
- Ability to navigate stairs and ladders as required.
- Bending, twisting, kneeling, and maneuvering garments or materials throughout the day.
- Occasional travel or off-site support may be required.
