Our client, Triple Aught Design, an apparel and equipment manufacturer headquartered in San Francisco is currently seeking a Senior Technical Designer. 
 
The ideal candidate will have excellent technical knowledge of fit, materials, patterns and construction. This role will partner with others on the product team to build innovative product lines and grow market share and profitability. The Senior Technical Designer will be responsible for ensuring products are commercialized accurately, adhering to TAD aesthetic, fit, quality and environmental standards resulting in on-time product development and production deliveries.

Core Responsibilities:
  • Manage the calendar and process including costing, quality evaluation, and approval requirements.
  • Identify construction technology that supports design vision and product requirements.
  • Produce accurate product specifications in PLM (including BOMs, patterns, markers, grading information, size charts, technical drawings, etc.) and ensure they are maintained and distributed.
  • Capture and detail product materials and construction information -- maintain BOM and PLM information to ensure efficient material purchasing and accurately produced finished product.
  • Manage the pattern creation process and ensure that TAD fit and quality standards are achieved in a timely manner.
  • Prepare accurate initial cost estimates for all prototypes and manage the costing process to ensure consistent, accurate cost sheets are received from all vendors and approvals are clearly communicated internally and externally.
  • Manage proto, sample, counter-sample, and production approvals to ensure TAD quality standards as well as on-time deliveries.
  • Lead efforts to resolve quality issues in a timely manner & work to ensure production orders leave the factory defect-free.
  • Work in collaboration with design and patternmaking to ensure products meet established fit and measurement standards.
  • Coordinate with Production, Finance, Marketing, and Design on sampling requirements.
  • Ensure all external product communication accurately reflects product model and specification.
Core Proficiencies:
  • Extensive knowledge of apparel construction, material construction, and properties, pattern making, costing, bill of materials, embroidery and surface applications (e.g. screen printing, etc).
  • Extensive knowledge of technical fabric / trims, construction, and production requirements.
  • Significant experience with menswear and technical outdoor apparel
  • Ability to interpret design intent and offer alternative solutions.
  • Knowledge of garment fit and the ability to instruct a patternmaker on necessary changes to a pattern to influence the fit.
  • Excellent communication skills: written, verbal, presentation, and negotiation -- ability to write comprehensive product specs and produce extremely detailed technical drawings.
  • Demonstrated history of taking initiative and following through on areas of responsibility.
  • Extreme attention to detail.
  • Solid grasp of the design, development and merchandising process from concept through production.
  • Excellent skills in creating construction specifications in Illustrator.
  • Experience with creating and modifying patterns and markers in Gerber Accumark.
Preferred Experience:
  • 5+ years experience in technical design -- proven problem-solving skills, interpreting design intent, and product innovation.
  • Strong hands-on sewing capabilities and knowledge.
  • Performance history with domestic and offshore vendors and manufacturers.
  • Bachelor's degree in Apparel Design preferred
 
Salary: $75,000 - $110,000
