Job Description
Walmart Denim Designer - PL
Responsibilities:
- Provide design and trend direction for denim and other hard pieces in bottoms, tops, skirts, dresses and jackets.
- Participate and present at trend meetings each season
- Present product at co-creation meetings.
- Consistently shop the market (our competition and aspirational brands) for inspiration and product opportunities
- Design the line according to classification/style plans, sales needs and emerging trends
- Manage and adhere to time and action calendar
- Participate in seasonal color direction and color palette building
- Lead fabric and wash development
- Ensure line stays on brand and has consistent styling details
- Develop product, and marketing concepts for emerging categories or items, white spaces, and chase styles
- Ensure product is being designed within cost parameters
- Create artwork for denim product packaging, labeling and hardware
- Manage all overseas communication with sample rooms to ensure correct and timely samples
- Attend all comparison fittings, proto fittings and production fittings to ensure we have the best fit and details
- Merchandise and style showrooms with Design Director for presentations
- Collaborate with marketing and sales on collateral for buyers, trims and in store marketing needs
- Build strong relationships with sales, production, tech, fabric R&D and marketing
- Lead tech pack schedule and execution to ensure deadlines are met
- Ensure all details and information is provided on time and correctly for design hand-offs with Walmart and OJG Internal teams
- Denim wash comments as needed
- Attend fittings and give concise feedback to technical design on how to adjust garments
- Ensure production fits are to our specifications
- Work closely with Design Director, Walmart Design partners, and CFT partners in all aspects of product development
Skills:
- BA degree from accredited art/fashion school
- 4+ years of experience in apparel design
- Proficient sketching in Illustrator
- Create initial specs
- Ability to interface with Department heads outside of Design i.e., Production/Sales to drive results
- Ability to develop a line from concept to completion without supervision from supervisors
- Ability to identify key trends and determine how they appropriately relate to the brand/consumer
- Experience working with Walmart a plus but not required
- PLM experience a plus but not required
Compensation: 75-90k
